What is Impro?
Improvised comedy is entertainment that is completely made up on the spot - there's no planning, no scripts and absolutely no clue about what is going to happen next. The aim is to make a show that is responsive to what the audience wants and which is completely new and exciting each time it is performed... It is also increasingly popular with the success of television shows such as "Whose line is it, anyway?" and "Thank God you're here!".
Who are the ImproMafia?
The ImproMafia is an established part of the Brisbane impro scene. Over the past two years we have organized successful shows at the Hotel Melbourne, Mick O'Malleys Irish pub and the Metro Arts Theatre. We have also performed in festivals and competitions at both a local and national level, such as the Straight out of Brisbane Festival and Melbourne's Theatresports Classic.
What do we do?
We provide a fun, exciting and novel form of entertainment that varies from the usual fare on offer around Brisbane. Our shows are completely spontaneous and involve an eclectic mix of song, dance, drama, wit and moments of pure comedic genius. We also love to get the audience involved and make our shows truly interactive and engaging. Our experience at other venues has been that this format is successful in keeping any audience, old or young, entertained and engaged.
