Character Workshops

written by Wade
Level 2: Characters

Our next set of workshops is coming up on the Saturday 8th of May and is Level 2: Characters.

It will be taught by four of ImproMafia’s most experienced performers, who will each take a class focusing on a particular skill or approach to character. It is a great opportunity to gain the insight and help of some excellent local Brisbane performers, and to expand your range and depth of characterization.

The course will run for four weeks and cover the following topics:

I’d never do that!: Looking at the standard characters you play and trying to break the mold. Taught by Tom Dunston.

Physicality: How to use your body to represent and create characters. Taught by David Massingham.

Opposites, Extremes and Arbitrary: Moving your characters beyond the cliches and the average. Taught by Natalie Bochenski.

Below the Surface: A look at creating characters through motivation, mantras and objectives. Taught by Wade Robinson

The details are:

Ithaca Hall
Cnr Enoggera and Kennedy Tce
Saturdays 1-4pm
8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th of May.
Cost: $40

Show Submissions 2010

written by Nat
Hi all!

2010 is fast approaching, and it looks set to be another great year for ImproMafia. But, as always, we need your help and ideas!

If you have an idea or concept for a new show, or a revised take on an existing format, I’m keen to hear it! Primarily I’m looking for ideas for our Brisbane Arts Theatre shows, which will be continuing on Sunday nights (number yet to be determined) - but if you’ve got something you think would suit our other venues, please submit that too.

I’ve attached a show submission form - please fill in and return by 1 December.

Even if you haven’t completely formed the idea, please give me a rough outline.

I really appreciate your enthusiasm and creative genius. ;)

Thanks, Natalie.
