Mabuhay from Manila!!

Improv QLD’s performers Adam, Becky and Daniel recently travelled to Manila Improv Festival in the Philippines to take part in workshops with world renowned teachers as well as perform in shows to an International audience with Improvisors from all over Southeast Asia and many other countries from around the world.

The experience was amazing, inspiring, and unforgettable! Becky and Adam opened the festival with ‘Ang Boypren Kong Puti’ translated to ‘My White Boyfriend’. This was an international collaboration between Australian and Phillipino Improvisors that explored the cultural differences between an Australian and Philipino family as they came together for the love of their children. It was a massive success that had the audience in constant laughter and gasps!

Next up was Cupid: The Improvised Dating Show. Adam, Becky, and Daniel travelled to Perth in January this year to perform this show with Improvisors from Singapore at Fringe World Festival. It was time for season 3 in the Philippines. Again, the show was an international collaboration between Improvisors from Australia, Japan and Singapore that explored the triumphs and tribulations that come with dating on reality TV. The audience were particularly won over by a ‘bromance’ between mates and the Intruder brought shock and surprise to the show.

To close the festival on the final night was Improv QLD’s show ‘Third Date’. A funny, vulnerable, and grounded show that explored a real-time date between a couple where intrusive thoughts came in and secrets were revealed. Becky and Dan’s flirtatious chemistry had the audience on the edge of their seats while Adam’s comic timing had the audience in hysterics. The show received exceptional feedback from the audience and international Improvisors.

We walk away with fond memories, so many laughs and new knowledge and insights gained in Improvisation. We can’t wait to see you next time Manila!!
